DOWNE TWP. - Everyone is invited to a birthday party on Saturday, June 19, at 2 p.m., at Union Hall, Main Street, Dividing Creek.

The party is for Union Hall itself, which will be 113 years old this month.

According to information provided by the Dividing Creek Historical Society, the hall was built by three lodges, which held their first meeting there in 1897.

It as been a goal of local residents to preserve this structure and in 1963 Union Hall was sold to the Dividing Creek Civic Club, which changed its name to the Dividing Creek Historical Society in 2004.

The public is invited to join in numerous activities to celebrate the occasion. There will be activities for young and old and especially those who are young at heart. There will be a birthday cake, a Chinese auction, face painting, a ride around town on Dividing Creek's first fire truck, a children's "Make & Take Craft Table," guess the number of jelly beans in a jar and an opportunity to greet old friends and make new ones.

A Building Paint Fund has been established and you may donate to the fund.

Whether you choose to donate or not, come out and enjoy the day.
